The scene to so many in the Carter household: The family is watching a television show, and during the commercials, Sam begins discussing the show’s content and its relationship to current events. Javier joins in, and Lizzie – bored of the interaction – tries to shut down the conversation because “current events just ain’t that big of a deal.”
