A House Divided

After wrapping up dinner and changing into to PJs, Sam decided to do a little Bagua swordplay before wrapping up his preparations for his family’s upcoming trip to Costa Rica. Sam and Elizabeth had some unresolved communication issues – issues which are resurrected when Elizabeth approaches Sam to discuss a few unsolved issues. Alas! There is no peace in the realm of mighty Keystone Castle this evening!

The Ode to Perdition

Very few took Donald J. Trump seriously when he declared his intent to become president. Hindsight can be helpful when you find yourself scratching your head about such things. Here’s a poetic look at The Donald’s 2015 infamous descent on his golden escalator to announce his presidential candidacy. The message then is the message today.

The Flashback

Elizabeth reluctantly agrees to come with Sam and Javier to an event protesting Trump’s proposed civil right reforms. Sam and Javier leave to take care of something, and Elizabeth is forced to make small talk with Tammy Shapiro – a Pulitzer-winning journalist with the Mystery City Chalice.  Tammy shares some facts with Elizabeth about the heritage of the Lumbee Tribe…and Elizabeth responds, in turn, with a few facts of her own.

You, Me, & Our Qi

Sam takes a bike ride to the Southside of the Mystery City to meet Malik for some Bagua training. Sam arrives to his phone “blowing” up with messages from his wife, Elizabeth. The messages led to arguments, and Sam – while waiting for Malik, decided to do some Freestyle Qigong and Yoga. Along the way, Sam attracts the attention of some park punks, and some hilarity ensues thanks to the sudden arrival of Malik.

The Mind of a Child

There are some who believe that the 2016 American Presidential election was just another run-of-the-mill “choice.”  However, many people – both young and old –  felt there was something more eternal driving the process.  Sam and Javier broach this topic through an emotional conversation about the ascent of Donald J. Trump (whose name aptly means the great leader) to the American presidency. They also discuss how yoga can help prepare one’s mind/body/spirit to do what must be done during the forthcoming trying times.

Civil Unrest

Sam and Lizzie can’t seem to have a simple conversation without everything devolving into an argument. The scene to so many in the Carter household: The family is watching a television show, and during the commercials, Sam begins discussing the show’s content and its relationship to current events. Javier joins in, and Lizzie – bored of the interaction – tries to shut down the conversation because “current events just ain’t that big of a deal.”
